Censorship reflects society's lack of confidence in itself. It is a hallmark of an authoritarian regime. ~Potter Stewart

No one should tell you what you can or cannot write about. Too many men gave their lives to give us that privilege. It is the first amendment of The Constitution. Writing is a release for most people. I think it is one of the best ways to get rid of any frustration and anger that you may be holding back. It's also a great way to communicate with one another. If someone is offended by something that has been written, then they should write something better. I don't know anyone who has the right to censor another person. I think Mr. Potter is right, it shows a lack of confidence. Confidence in other people and confidence in themselves.

I think you mean "Mr. Stewart"

but yes, it shows that society doesn't trust itself to do the right thing so they declare all published material must be free of the wrong thing -- what the right or wrong things are varies from century to centry, and some place to place.
