Writing for the web assignment

The magazine I picked that I would never read was Smocking & Embroidery. It's target audience is definitely grandma's. The magazine showed little children, old fashioned looking clothes, big on light pinks and baby blues. The type was feminine and there wasn't a whole lot of copy. There were plenty of patterns. There were pictures and letters sent in by grandmothers to the editor. Tone: "Would you like to win a Liberty Potpourri kit with the original Liberty Fabrics. It is basically a write in forum.

The magazine I read most often is INSTYLE. I think it is geared toward women 20-30 years old. They are interested in the lifestyle of well-to-do people. May also want to dress like the people in the magazine. There were stories about fashion and usually an interview with a famous person. There are a lot of visuals in the magazine of clothes and accesories and where to buy them. The tone of the magazine is classy fun.

GolfPunk magazine is the project website. It is fun and colorful. It is an alternative side of golf. For men 20-30 years old. They are interested in the lifestyle of golf. They also like the Bunker Babes. There are interviews, question and answer section, and plenty of visuals.

Censorship reflects society's lack of confidence in itself. It is a hallmark of an authoritarian regime. ~Potter Stewart

No one should tell you what you can or cannot write about. Too many men gave their lives to give us that privilege. It is the first amendment of The Constitution. Writing is a release for most people. I think it is one of the best ways to get rid of any frustration and anger that you may be holding back. It's also a great way to communicate with one another. If someone is offended by something that has been written, then they should write something better. I don't know anyone who has the right to censor another person. I think Mr. Potter is right, it shows a lack of confidence. Confidence in other people and confidence in themselves.

Will you accept this rose and can I touch you in bad places?

I haven't watched The Bachelor in a long time, but for some reason I am watching it now. If you haven't been paying attention the Bachelor is a doctor, in the Navy, does Philanthropy work, was in the past three Iron Man Triathlons, is physically attractive, and I think he cured cancer last year. He is thirty, has all this going for him and he's single? I don't know about you, but that sounds a little fishy. He also seems to be a bit touchy feely. However, some people are like that...like sex offenders. I have a feeling this guy is a dirty perv manwhore or hiding something really profound. I am going with dirty perv manwhore.

Third Quarter Begins

The quarter is picking up momentum. Mimi's class makes me a little nervous. Every time you make a grammatical mistake you have to put a quarter in the jar. In my case, it will be dollars bills. I am trying my best to improve my grammar, but it ain't good. I have been concepting all weekend. I finished a radio ad that is a spoof on the Monty Python. Hopefully it is exactly 60 seconds long. I also have a group in my Writing for the Web Class. We are using a magazine that is a combination of golf and Maxim Magazine.

Blogga!, Blogga!, Blogga!

I just had my first branding class and I think it should be interesting. The teacher seems a little quirky, but hopefully I will learn something. We were paired up today and told to pick a shoe brand. Since I was partnered up with two guys I have a feeling it will be a guy shoe brand.
I like radio too, but I feel a little bit like a traitor because I am an XM subscriber. Radio ads annoy me to the point that I am willing to pay $12 a month not to hear them. However, I am willing to listen to them in my home and try to really focus on the ads because I really need to improve in that area. I lost my partner for my web class, and hopefully I can pick a group to join. For some reason, I always seem to have bad luck in that class, like corrupt files and illness.

It pushed a button

I guess I have returned to blogging. I continued a little bit on myspace. I have decided to vent about our first seminar speaker for the quarter. I don't remember his name, but he seemed to give a pretty good presentation. However, I was informed that he released some verbal vomit at the round table discussion. According to Ty and Mer, he said something to the effect of, "Unlike writing, design takes skill." Part of me really wishes I had been there because I would have said something. On the other hand it's probably good that I wasn't, I'm sure my words and actions would have been frowned upon. To say writing doesn't take skill, is to say all those English classes that were taught throughout your life is a waste. I guess everyone is just born with the ability to write. Everything in life takes some kind of skill. Driving a car, dancing, poker, and mixing a good martini takes skill. I didn't realize such ignorance existed today in the advertising agencies.
